The short answerWhat is a seamless splashback?

In short, a seamless splashback is one continuous, hand applied surface on the wall behind your worktop, sink and hob. Unlike tiles or glass, it has no grout lines and no joins, so it looks calmer and cleans in seconds.

Specifically, at Antichi Decori our Bristol studio applies genuine Valpaint systems from Italy. For wet areas, we often use Valpaint E-VOLUTION, a microcement system that Valpaint makes for walls exposed to water. We then seal every splashback, so splashes and steam simply wipe away.

Because we are also the official Valpaint UK distributor, we know these systems inside out, from preparation to the final protective coat.

Why homeowners switchWhy choose seamless splashbacks in Bristol over tiles?

In short, you get a kitchen wall that looks better and asks for far less of your time. Here, then, are the six reasons our Bristol clients mention most.

01
No grout lines

Because it is one continuous surface, there are no joints to trap grease, dirt or mould.

02
Water resistant

We seal it following Valpaint guidance; therefore, splashes and steam wipe straight off.

03
Easy to clean

In fact, a soft cloth and a mild cleaner are all you need. Also, there is nothing to regrout, ever.

04
Goes over tiles

In many kitchens, for example, we apply straight over sound tiles, so you avoid a strip out.

05
Made to measure

First we tint it to your cabinets and worktop, then we carry it neatly round corners, sockets and windows.

06
Italian craft

Above all, you get genuine Valpaint systems, applied by hand by the official UK distributor.

Valpaint E-VOLUTION microcement splashback with under cabinet lighting above a marble worktop in Bristol

Most popular

Microcement splashbacks

First, there is a soft, stone like finish that runs from worktop to wall units with no joins. In particular, Valpaint formulated E-VOLUTION for walls exposed to water, so it suits sink and hob walls. For example, see our Bristol microcement splashback.

Metallic and textured effects

Here, we trowel mineral pigments by hand for a warm, burnished glow. In fact, the surface changes tone as daylight and kitchen lighting move across it.

Bold

Dark, dramatic finishes

Alternatively, choose deep charcoal and near black finishes with a subtle sheen. Moreover, they look especially striking with under cabinet lighting and pale stone worktops.

Similarly, we tint every finish to order, from soft greige to graphite. Also, we prepare samples on site, so you choose in your own light.

QuestionsSplashbacks Bristol: your questions answered

What is a seamless splashback?

In short, a seamless splashback is a hand applied decorative coating that covers the wall behind your worktop, sink and hob in one continuous surface. Unlike tiles or glass, it has no grout lines, joints or visible edges. In addition, we use genuine Valpaint Italian systems, such as microcement and metallic finishes, and then seal the surface following Valpaint guidance.

Are seamless splashbacks waterproof?

Yes, once sealed. For example, on wet kitchen walls we use systems such as Valpaint E-VOLUTION, which Valpaint describes as waterproof and resistant to chemical cleaning products. As a result, splashes, steam and everyday cleaning are no problem.

Can a seamless splashback go behind a hob?

Yes, in most kitchens. However, every hob is different, so we check the hob type and its distance from the wall at the free survey. Then we specify the right Valpaint system and protective finish for that area.

Can you apply it over existing tiles?

Often, yes. This is because Valpaint E-VOLUTION can go directly over existing tiles, so you avoid a messy strip out. However, the tiles need to be sound and firmly fixed, which we check at the survey before priming.

How long does a splashback take to install?

In general, most splashbacks take one to three days to apply, depending on the size and the finish. After that, the surface needs around five to seven days to cure fully, and we explain exactly what that means for using your kitchen.

How do I clean a seamless splashback?

Above all, keep it simple and wipe it with a soft, damp cloth and a mild pH neutral cleaner, and avoid abrasive pads or harsh chemicals. Because there is no grout, there is nothing to scrub or regrout.

How much do seamless splashbacks cost in Bristol?

In short, the price depends on the size of the area, the finish you choose and the condition of the wall. For that reason, we give every Bristol and South West client a free, itemised quote after a home visit, with no obligation.

Can you match the colour to my kitchen?

Yes. Because every splashback is made to order, we tint the finish to suit your cabinets, worktop and lighting. We also prepare samples, so you can judge them in your own kitchen before we start.

Do you fit splashbacks outside Bristol?

Yes. Although our studio is in Bristol, we regularly work in Bath, Cheltenham, Gloucester, Somerset and the Cotswolds. We also supply Valpaint materials to trade decorators across the UK.
